Morris Blankenbaker Obituary, Death – The parents of Morris Ray Blankenbaker are Ned Leo Blankenbaker (1907–1985) and Olive Ruth Blankenbaker (1910–2005). December 16, 1942, in Yakima, Washington, USA, was his birthdate. After winning the title of “Best Athlete of the Year” and earning a four-year scholarship to play halfback for the football team at Washington State University, he graduated from Davis High School in 1961. In Yakima, Washington, on August 23, 1965, he wed Dee Ann Hammerstad following his time in college.
After graduating from college, Morris was approached by several football teams to play professionally, but he chose to take a job as a teacher and coach at Wapato Intermediate School, which is close to his hometown of Yakima. Morris and Dee Ann appeared to have a flawless marriage and had two children together. After nearly a decade of marriage, the couple finally got a divorce on June 27, 1974.
On Christmas Day 1975, Blankenbaker was shot as he was returning from a part-time job at a tavern in Yakima. His ex-wife discovered him dead on his front yard. Given that both victims were physical education teachers, Davis High School grads, and shared an ex-wife named Dee Ann, there was a connection between his murder and that of Gabby Moore. According to authorities, Dee Ann and Blankenbaker had apparently made up just before he passed away.
